Climate Governance, Diplomacy And Negotiations Leadership Program

Climate change presents one of the biggest threats to sustainable development worldwide. Its widespread unprecedented impacts disproportionately burden the poorest and most vulnerable majority –a
significant number of whom live in Africa.
So far, the most prominent global policy responses to climate change are currently covered by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Together, these frameworks provide the foundation for sustainable, low carbon and climate resilient development pathways. As the threat of climate change grows, Africa finds itself in a situation where it must build adequate internal capacity to muster the climate change landscape to address her interests.
