Countries in Africa are developing and implementing economic development plans that enable the transition to a low-carbon economy as an  effective mechanism for combating climate change. It is essential to build an evidence base around the positive impact of low emission development on agriculture, jobs, manufacture/export, competitiveness, health, mobility and energy access. By bringing together climate scientists and practitioners, this theme will facilitate access to quality data, sophisticated scenarios, technologies, tools and methodologies for measurement, reporting and verification, among others.
