In Seeking to understand what is actually new about Climate Smart Agriculture, I have examined the framing and come to question as to whether CSA is a discourse emergent or a discourse shifted. Most of the practices and spirit of it is already within the what has been for long been exercised in advancing the sustainable land management (SLM) and Ecological Practices. Not as a pessimist of New York, the CSA efforts need to discuss is this a discourse emergent or a discourse shifted.

There are still more issues to be addressed in the CSA particularly when working with small-holder farmers; a economics of the CSA practices (cost benefit analysis-CBA and Internal Rates of Return), costs and barriers of investing in CSA; policy frameworks and re-alignment with the already existing efforts; capacity of the scientific community to design and effect CSA oriented research among others

    Just thinking aloud
