Going the Last Mile: Accelerating Progress in Food Security and Nutrition

On June 14, 2016 the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission (DG DEVCO), HarvestPlus and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) will host an all-day workshop on Going the Last Mile: Accelerating Progress in Food Security and Nutrition.

Michael Hailu, CTA’s Director, will chair the event together with Shenggen Fan, IFPRI’s director, Roberto Ridolfi, Director for Sustainable growth and development at the DG DEVCO of the European Commission, and Vladimir Šucha, JRC’s Director-General.

In addition, Chris Addison, CTA Senior programme coordinator for Knowledge Management, will deliver a presentation on ‘Building capacity to deliver evidence from open data for farmers and policymakers’. The presentation is scheduled to take place at 14:40, during Session 3 on ‘Delivering from data’.

The event will take place in Brussels, Belgium on the eve of the European Development Days and will focus on translating investments into action. Leading thinkers and stakeholders will come together to share experiences and support critical dialogue for advancing progress in the achievement of necessarily ambitious food security and nutrition goals.

The day’s programme will include a multisectoral panel discussion and thematic sessions on:

  • Translating analysis into action
  • Scaling up technologies
  • Delivering from data
  • Enhancing policy performance
  • Going the last mile
